Due to the unexpected closure of the school today I will not be sending home a newsletter with the students. Here are a few things going on:
In 6th grade we are learning about Ancient Greece. Next week the students will begin their next DBQ (document based question). This one will ask the students to decide if Sparta had a good education system. Students will have a chance to review 4-5 documents about their education system and will be able to form their own opinions about its merits. After reviewing all the information the students will write an essay defending their opinion.
In 7th grade we will be finishing our DBQ (document based question) that asks how the US Constitution guards against tyranny. We have already looked at the sources and will finish the essay in the first part of next week.
In 8th grade we will be continuing to look at the progression of how the Louisiana Colony was populated. We will be looking at the Mississippi Bubble and why it "popped."
Things happening at the school:
**Progress reports are being printed to be mailed home.
**We are starting a new behavior tracker. Instead of students receiving paper PRIDE points to spend in the store they will now receive their points in the Kickboard app. Letters are being mailed home to parents and guardians with information to set up an account so you and your child can see point totals and why they were received.
**Mardi Gras holidays are from February 24th thru February 28th.
